GMA Network, Mike’s home for many years, conveyed the news of his passing through his long-time colleague Mel Tiangco. The announcement was made during the concluding moments of the evening news program “24 Oras.”

In a statement, GMA Network, Inc. expressed its deep sorrow, stating, “The Board of Directors, management, and employees of GMA Network, Inc. deeply mourn the passing of Mr. Enriquez. His dedication to the industry will serve as an inspiration to all. We pray for the eternal repose of our beloved Kapuso.”

Throughout his prolific career, Mike played a vital role in GMA’s flagship newscast, “24 Oras” and he was the face of public affairs program “Imbestigador.” His influence extended beyond broadcasting as he held key positions within the industry, including the presidency of RGMA Network, Inc., senior vice presidency and consultation roles for radio operations. His resonant voice also graced the airwaves through programs like “Super Balita sa Umaga” and “Saksi sa Dobol B.”

Mike’s journalistic journey began in 1969, eventually leading him to GMA Network in 1995. On his 54 years over the airwaves, he amassed numerous accolades. Notably, he clinched the Best Newscaster Award at the Asian Television Awards in Singapore in 1999 and gold medal at the New York Festivals in 2003 for the early evening news program “Saksi”. In his own words as quoted by GMA Integrated News article, ““This is one of my prayers to the Lord. I kept telling him, Lord, please let me be well enough in time for the election coverage. And He answered my prayer. Pinagdasal ko ‘yan. (I prayed for that.)”. Hailing from Sta. Ana, Manila, Mike is survived by his wife, Lizabeth.
